HISTORY
KIT developed from an initiative by the Chairman, Jeremy Morris. During visits to his mother when she was resident in a care home, Jeremy recognized the need for a major improvement in the quality of life of care home residents in terms of access to friends and family, contact with events in the outside world and avoiding the feeling of isolation suffered by many residents. KIT's services have been developed as a solution to this problem. KIT has benefited from the support of its Patron, Lord Anthony Giddens, a prominent sociologist and former head of the London School of Economics.
During 2010 KIT ran pilot schemes in several homes in North West London, which soon established that the use of simplified software with volunteers was what the residents wanted.
